Ground Realities of April 25, 2015 Devastating Earthquake in Nepal
Despite the devastating earthquake, Nepal remains a safe destination for adventure tourism. Here’s an update on the current situation:
- Only 8 out of 75 districts were affected
- 1 out of 10 National Parks was affected
- All highways and sub-ways are operational
- 2 out of 8 UNESCO World Heritage Sites suffered around 40% damage
- 90% of hotels in Kathmandu Valley are safe and operational
- 100% of hotels in popular destinations like Pokhara, Chitwan, Lumbini, and others are safe and open
- Only 2 out of 35 popular trekking routes (Manaslu and Langtang) are affected
- All international and national airports are operational
- Communication networks, phone calls, ATMs, and swipe machines are working well
- Hospitals and clinics are safe and operational, with no reported viral diseases or influenza
